Introduction
Trinity is committed to state-of-the-art information systems architecture, with a view to maximising and improving business processing needs. Day-to-day administration work is performed on the latestPCs running MS Windows SQL Server operating system and software applications such as MS Word and Excel for Windows are being used in their highest capacity. Macros have been written to generate a range of weekly reports produce mail merges, etc., as well as interface with a range of databases and integrate with other vertical applications.
Accounting
Trinity utilises a Sun Systems integrated multi-currency general ledger accounting software application, which interfaces with other proprietary and non-proprietary software. Sun Systems contains functionality which is specifically designed to facilitate financial services requirements. The main features of the Sun Systems are that the Integrated Single Ledger eliminates the need to maintain separate debtor, creditor and nominal ledgers, so there are no batch updates or bottle-necks at posting times, and the system also allows for flexible journal entries. Sun Systems provides multiple fully defined analysis codes which can be attached to both accounts and individual transactions, hence, accounting data, user-driven analysis and management information can be produced as the end product. The Sun Systems can chart accounts from virtually any industry standard software source and can export data and reports in many industry standard formats for use in spreadsheets, graphic packages, word processors, etc. In addition, Sun Systems caters for multi-currency users; security issues are addressed with a comprehensive response; and there are three powerful report generators resident within the system. In conjunction with Sun Systems, Trinity also utilises a software application called Vision, which allows us to download information from the Sun Systems into Excel templates in a highly automated manner; enabling fast, accurate and customised reporting.
Portfolio Management Accounting & Reporting
In today’s fast moving investment management industry, clients have accelerating expectations with respect to portfolio management information. Trinity utilises Axys from Advent, a specialised software package at the cornerstone of the Advent Office solutions suite, specifically aimed to enhance efficiencies with time saving portfolio accounting, performance and reporting tools. Axys integrates seamlessly with other software applications providing solutions that automate, streamline and connect the investment management process to Trinity’s entire organisation. The investment management environment is complex and diverse especially in the hedge fund world. Managers trade in a variety of manners employing a diverse range of third party applications for equities bonds and derivatives. The difficulty for the service provider is to get a strong central platform with sound operational capabilities that can interface with several disparate counter party systems. Axys achieves with its database and processing infrastructure that facilitates the growth of trading funds in terms of assets under management, number of funds or trading styles and allows for service providers to integrate investment functions across its enterprise and beyond – including client and portfolio management, trade capture, trade processing, position keeping and P & L, in-depth customised reporting, sophisticated performance measurement, integrated corporate actions reporting, multi-currency accounting and open GL interface, electronic interfaces, and web-delivery.
Axys is a flexible and robust portfolio management system designed for maximum operability and ease of use, allowing Trinity and its clients to communicate vital financial information in a sophisticated and timely manner within today’s rapidly changing environment.

Shareholder Services
Trinity also utilises a specialised software package specifically aimed to facilitate administration of collective investment vehicles, M-Star. M-Star has been developed to run within an Internet Web-Browser. This share registration system harnesses responsible user-led development to deliver the functionality required in the modern business world. M-Star allows for the maintenance of data relating to individuals who invest in various funds, and provides a complete history of such investments. M-Star will handle Equalisation (“EQ”) record keeping and reporting covering various EQ methodologies. M-Star will also look after marketing and distributor maintenance including commission fee record-keeping and reporting. M-Star is intended to allow for the smooth and efficient running of fund administration, and will enable fund administration managers to provide a service to their Clients that incorporates the technology of the future. In addition, M-Star will provide Investment Managers with the same benefits to pass onto their Clients; the Investors. M-Star will generate reports to Investment Managers and their Clients which can be sent by paper, fax, e-mail, text message, or a mixture of more than one method. Such reports can be produced in any language. The reporting capabilities of M-Star are extensive, and all data stored in the system may be generated into a report. Covering letters, contract notes and other bespoke reports may also be generated. Both the investment Manger and the Client can view details of their holdings on a Web Site. At a user-defined time, details of the relevant holdings are automatically extracted from the core database and transferred to a Web Site enabling the Investment Manager to log on and view the details. Investment Managers and Clients who wish to be notified when certain changes occur in a fund, can be notified securely over the mobile telephone network by Text Message. The convergence of up to date financial information and the ability to provide the immediacy of this information to clients on a mobile device demonstrates the benefit of wireless data to the time-constrained individual better than any other application combination. Access to information is secured by password protection, and information pertinent to each individual Investment Manager or Client can be accessed only by the authorised persons. M-Star is built on component architecture, which is flexible and robust. It enjoys JSP technology and will operate in Windows 2000, NT and Unix environments, and no software, other than a web browser is required by the Investment Manager or Client.
